The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) is pleased to announce the release of the draft Shoreline Restoration Plan. Written comments on the plan are welcomed and encouraged. The comment period will last through Friday, February 10, 2012.

On December 19, 2011, the Seattle City Council approved new land use standards and maximum building heights for the West Seattle Triangle neighborhood. DPD planners have been working with members of the community since spring 2010 to ensure that new development in the area is transit- and pedestrian-oriented.

Since 1999, the City Green Building team has been working to make sustainable development standard practice in the City of Seattle – first working as an interdepartmental team from across multiple City departments and then as a combined, yet still multidisciplinary, unit within DPD. City Green Building is now moving on to our next iteration to better align our work with that of our colleagues working on environmental policy, sustainable communities and development services.

On December 8, DPD planners shared three draft urban design concepts with the public. The concepts were developed following a late July open house. The three concepts illustrate a range of ideas for the evolution of a denser neighborhood district in the vicinity of the Northgate transit center, including different arrangements of open space and future development near the light rail station.

DPD adjusted its service fees on January 1, 2012.
DPD uses the most recent building valuation data (BVD) published by the International Code Council as a base for the Seattle BVD table, found in Director’s Rule (DR) 1-2012.

The Neighborhood Planning team is wrapping up the second round of plan updates. The team is drafting final language for the neighborhood plan updates and responding to comments on the proposals shared at open houses this past October and November. The Neighborhood Planning team is working with the Neighborhood Advisory Committees in both Rainier Beach and Broadview - Bitter Lake - Haller Lake.
