With the holidays and end of the year quickly approaching, most of us have a fairly lengthy “to-do” list. Perhaps your list includes home improvement projects? Even if your New Year’s resolution isn’t to finally tackle that remodel or begin planning that new deck, you might be interested in one of our Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections Home Fairs.
Whether you’re a homeowner, landlord, renter or potential homeowner, our home fairs will have something for you! Ask us about our permitting process, inspections, and code requirements. Do you rent, or are you a landlord? Come learn about rental housing rules. We’ll also have information tables about landslide awareness, emergency preparedness, building codes, inspections, and so much more!
This year, we’ll be joined by several other departments and organizations so that you can maximize your visit to our home fair. Seattle Public Utilities will be on-site to provide information and tools for recycling, composting, and reducing waste. RainWise will help you find out if you are eligible for a rebate of up to 100 percent of the cost of installing a rain garden or cistern on your property. Rebuilding Together Seattle will provide information about their program that provides free health- and safety-focused home repairs for low-income homeowners. The Seattle Hubs table will be staffed by volunteers who can explain how the Emergency Communications Hubs function, where they’re located, and how to be prepared and communicate during an emergency. With these organizations in attendance along with several others, we’re sure to have answers for all of your questions!
We’ve had such amazing interest in our South Seattle Home Fair for the past two years, we’ve decided to add an additional event to bring these important resources to the rest of our great city: the new North Seattle Home Fair! This extension of our popular event will take place on Saturday, January 26 at the Sunset Hill Community Club from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Our South Seattle Home Fair will once again be at the Filipino Community Center on Saturday, February 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
