Effective January 1, 2016, DPD will be raising the land use hourly rate 12%, a change from $250/hour to $280/hour. The new hourly rate will be applied to billable review hours or fees that are linked to the land use hourly rate that are incurred on or after January 1, 2016.
Time to Get Ready for the 2016 Stormwater Code
The 2016 Stormwater Code becomes effective January 1, 2016! DPD is hosting a series of training sessions to help prepare designers and builders for the 2016 Stormwater Code. Also, the new Stormwater Code and Manual, along with a host of supporting documents, are now available online.
Seattle Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Update
The Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection Program is working on a complete re-write of the Seattle Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspection Code. Text and content will remain pretty much the same as the current edition. However, the new edition will be rearranged.
Recent Changes to When Design Review Is Required
City Council recently developed and approved two separate Land Use Code amendments that will trigger Design Review for some development proposals that were previously exempt from Design Review or Streamlined Design Review.
New Paving Restoration Rules Begin – October 1, 2015
Starting October 1, 2015, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) will no longer provide paving restoration for new water service installations and retirements. Applicants will now need a Seattle Department of Transportation Street Use Permit (51M) for pavement restoration OR a Street Improvement Plan (SIP) showing restoration of water-service-related work, or applicable paving permits if you are working in other jurisdictions (new service and retirements of old services).

City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the 2016 Stormwater Code Update for August 11, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Seattle City Hall Council Chambers. Effective Date for Seattle’s Shoreline Master Program
The Washington Department of Ecology approved Seattle’s updated Shoreline Master Program on June 1. It will take effect on June 15. Local shoreline master programs are a cornerstone of the state’s Shoreline Management Act, approved by voters in 1971. Seattle’s shoreline program will result in the balanced management of nearly 100 miles of marine, lake, and estuarine shorelines throughout the city.
