In August DPD will issue two draft studies related to siting a basketball arena in the Duwamish Industrial area. These studies were specifically called for in the agreement among the City, King County, and the arena representatives.
Pioneer Square Amendments: A “Win-Win” for public Safety and Economic Vitality
The Mayor and DPD, in partnership with the Alliance for Pioneer Square, are proposing a change to the land use code that would be a “win-win” for Pioneer Square. If approved, the amendments will encourage a mixed-use development that will bring office workers, residents and tourists to a key location next to Occidental Square.
Planning Commission Announces New Analyst
The Seattle Planning Commission welcomes Jesseca Brand as their new policy analyst. Brand replaces Katie Sheehy, who has joined the DPD’s planning office.

Members Sought for Seattle’s Living Building and Deep Green Pilot Technical Advisory Group
The City of Seattle is looking for qualified candidates to fill 10 positions in the City’s new Living Building and Deep Green Pilot Technical Advisory Group. These volunteer positions are expected to be filled by September 2013 so work can begin immediately following. The role of the advisory group will be to provide recommendations to the Department of Planning and Development on updating the City’s Living Building and Seattle Deep Green Pilot Program, which aims to promote sustainable building and development.

Roosevelt Neighborhood Streetscape Concept Plans
In the summer of 2010 we partnered with the Roosevelt community to create streetscape concept plans. Our shared Roosevelt Neighborhood Streetscape Concept Plans , prepared in collaboration with the Seattle Department of Transportation, reflect the community’s priorities for areas around the future Roosevelt Light Rail station.
Micro Dwelling Units
DPD has monitored micro dwelling units in Seattle for about two years. We are now evaluating our rules to make sure we have, clear, and consistent regulations. Our evaluation is based on our research and on concerns raised by the public and elected officials.
Developing Small Single-Family Lots
On June 27, DPD made our draft proposal available for public review. We also issued a related environmental review (under the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA)) and decision. You can submit comments or appeal our proposal until July 18, 2013.
