Private Property Tree Regulations Update

Big Changes Coming to DPD’s Website
DPD will launch a completely redesigned and reorganized website in the first quarter of 2013. When we release our new and improved website, you’ll notice a few exciting changes inspired by our customer research. The new site will work well on a mobile phone or tablet. Its organization and search function will be better. It will feature new content like simple, one-page guides to common projects and a single, searchable map to find almost any property or project data. The streamlined design will let information on permits, codes, properties, projects, and city plans—the products customers most want to see—shine through.
Landslide Awareness Meeting Nov. 10

Developing on Small Single-Family Lots
DPD generally supports and encourages infill development when consistent with the City’s Comprehensive Plan goals and policies. DPD recently reviewed the Land Use Code provisions that regulate undersized lots and minimum lot area exceptions. DPD determined that development approved under current standards is often out of character with the surrounding neighborhood and inconsistent with policy. Interim measures were put in place to prevent additional permits on these small lots while this issue is being studied.
Members Sought for Seattle’s Design Review Boards
Mayor Mike McGinn is looking for qualified candidates to fill nine upcoming openings on the city of Seattle’s Design Review Board. The volunteer positions will be available April 4, 2013 when retiring board members’ terms expire.
Open House for Green Code Provisions
DPD invites you to join us at an open house on October 29 to review and discuss draft green code provisions. These provisions are under consideration by the City of Seattle and other jurisdictions within the Puget Sound Region. The Green Code Provisions address water conservation, material conservation, and sustainable transportation. Please come to learn more and provide your feedback on these proposals.
Are YOU Prepared for Landslides?
Did you know that most landslides occur between the months of October and April? And that 86 percent of landslides are caused to some extent by human activity? Landslide season is upon us and although the Seattle rainfall is currently below the landslide threshold, the City of Seattle is urging residents to take preventive measures to protect themselves and their property from possible landslides.
