Electronic plan submission and review is now in the pilot project stage. DPD will be working with 45 applicants to develop processes and technology for electronic submission and review of plan sets for building and land use permits.
The pilot will encompass most of the permit process and most project types. Goals of the project include improving the efficiency of routing and review processes; improving customer service and reducing fuel consumption by limiting trips to DPD; and reducing paper usage.
EPlan review will include construction, demolition, land use, site, and post-permit project types. Once electronic plan submission and review is in place, applicants can access DPD’s public web site to enter information about their projects and upload plan sets and other project-related documents.
Documents and plan sets will then be routed to appropriate staff electronically and accessed via plan viewer software. DPD is also considering adding plan review stations at various locations around the department, as well as wide-screen monitors in the ASC for both counter staff and public use.
