The Environmental Protection Agency will delay enforcing a new rule that requires contractors to take extra precaution when making renovations that could expose children to dust from old lead paint. The new enforcement date is October 1, 2010. The delay is in response to complaints from industry and legislative representatives who had said they did not have access to necessary training to comply by the previous April deadline. The EPA will allow contractors until Sept. 30, 2010 to sign up for training, and until Dec. 31, 2010 to complete the training.
