DPD and Seattle Public Utilities have been working on revisions and clarifications to the Side Sewer Code (SMC 21.16) and its associated Director’s Rules. Occasional announcements and status reports for this effort have been published in this newsletter in the past. The project team completed final public outreach in January to side sewer design and construction stakeholders. Final outreach to restaurant associations and food establishments was completed this past May relating to changes to the City’s Fats, Oils, and Grease program. The SEPA process was completed in June, and final comments and changes have been incorporated into the code and Director’s Rules. The legislative process is currently under way, and the project team anticipates City Council will pass the ordinance in August.
