The 2009 Seattle codes became mandatory for all permit applications submitted November 23, 2010 or later. The building, residential and mechanical codes are available from the DPD Public Resource Center on the 20th floor of Seattle Municipal Tower, 500 5th Avenue, or by calling (206) 684-8467.
There are two important additions to the adopted Seattle codes. After the Seattle residential and building codes went to press, the State Building Code Council adopted an emergency rule that modifies the provisions for carbon monoxide detectors. DPD will enforce the emergency rule rather than the Seattle amendments printed in the codes. The text of the carbon monoxide provisions is available on DPD’s website, www.seattle.gov/dpd/Codes/Technical_Codes/Overview/default.asp. The State Building Code Council will enter rulemaking on permanent rules early next year. There is also a corrected page 305 for the Seattle Building Code—IBC Section 1109.2.3 was inadvertently omitted from the Seattle Code.
