Starting January 1, 2011, SDOT will collect fees directly from customers when SDOT review is required on a DPD shoring permit. Customers with projects that require SDOT shoring review that start BEFORE January 1, 2011 will begin receiving monthly invoices in February 2011 for SDOT review charges incurred in the prior month. DPD will collect outstanding fees on projects with SDOT review charges that were incurred prior to January 1, 2011 at the time of permit issuance.
Customers applying for a DPD shoring permit AFTER January 1, 2011 will provide a deposit for SDOT shoring review to DPD at the time of plan intake. The deposit for single family residence projects requiring SDOT shoring review will be $1,250. Applicants for all other project types requiring SDOT shoring review will provide a deposit of $2,500. SDOT will not begin their shoring review until the deposit has been received.
SDOT shoring review charges will be deducted from the deposit until it has been expended. Customers will receive a monthly statement showing SDOT review charges and remaining balance to date. Once the deposit is expended SDOT will invoice the customer for subsequent review charges.
Currently, DPD collects a construction phase deposit from all customers on behalf of SDOT. This will not change. If there is a remaining balance on the review phase deposit it will be applied to the construction phase. Once a shoring project is completed, any unused deposit money will be returned to the customer.
