Seattle Department of Transportation is revising the Street Use permit fees and the hourly rate for the first time since 2004. Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) 15.04.074 requires that Street Use permit fees cover the expense of administering permits, including review, issuance and enforcement. The Street Use rates were last updated in 2004 and the current fees no longer cover the expense of administration. To be in compliance with the code, the following rates will be effective as of January 1, 2011.
Below is a summary of the changes:
- Permit Issuance fees will increase from $101 to $146.
- Annual permit renewal fees will increase from $97 to $140.
- Inspection and Review time will increase from $150/hr to $172/hr.
- There will be a new “premium” inspection rate of $344/hr.
The premium rate is triggered when the applicant requires a review or an inspection outside the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
