With the arrival of sustained rains, there is the potential for landslides to occur on landslide prone properties in Seattle. Seattle’s landslide prone properties include most hillsides as well as properties at the top and toe of slopes.
Owners of these properties are encouraged to:
- ensure drains are clear of leaves (check frequently)
- confirm that downspouts are firmly connected to a working drainage utility
- check property for signs of earth movement, including leaning trees and cracks in soil or structures
If you feel personally threatened by a landslide, leave your property and call 9-1-1.
