The Neighborhood Planning team is wrapping up the second round of plan updates. The team is drafting final language for the neighborhood plan updates and responding to comments on the proposals shared at open houses this past October and November. The Neighborhood Planning team is working with the Neighborhood Advisory Committees in both Rainier Beach and Broadview – Bitter Lake – Haller Lake.
Both neighborhood plan updates seek to create healthy people and families, strong communities, and great places.
The Broadview – Bitter Lake – Haller Lake update focuses on four areas:
-
advocating for an Aurora Ave. Corridor Plan
-
prioritizing a network of “complete streets” that are safe for everyone
-
creating a “town center” on Linden Ave. N.
-
enhancing community connections
The Rainier Beach update prioritizes:
-
actions to improve business and cultural nodes that support strong, diverse communities
-
strategies to build the community capacity to undertake large-scale projects
Final reports will be presented at workshops planned for early next year. The workshop objectives are to:
-
increase awareness about the update
-
prioritize our shared work to implement the recommendations
-
create community/City action teams to start making our priorities a reality
