—Effective July 2nd: Free coaching services will be reinstated
Starting July 2, DPD will offer free land use coaching on all development proposals, reinstating this valuable service to those needing a more immediate response. This free service offers up to 20 minutes of coaching with a land use planner to provide a direct response to questions posed during the visit.
In October 2010, DPD reduced this free service in order to balance application intake and review workloads while maintaining core services of permit review, issuance and inspections. This was the culmination of months of reduced permit revenue that resulted in several rounds of layoffs.
However, after seeing modest but steady increases in both construction permit volume and revenue, we have been able to bring back several land use planners to help maintain our review time lines while also providing coaching resources to the public. In addition to now offering free coaching services, we’ll also be offering paid coaching appointments for up to one hour (formerly only 30 minutes) with a land use planner or geotechnical engineer. We will continue to offer limited free online land use Q & A to those who are unable to visit our Applicant Services Center during normal business hours.
