DPD is proud to be a partner of the Seattle Design Festival! The 2012 Festival is the second annual celebration in Seattle of the relevance and power of design. The four-day “super weekend” of design, September 20-23, will show how design adds value to our lives, our city, and our region.
DPD will have an exhibit showcasing the proposed new urban design element for the Seattle Comprehensive Plan. The exhibit will include interactive maps and other fun activities to gather your comments about Seattle’s design goals. We want your ideas about how Seattle should encourage and recognize good urban design. Whether it’s your neighborhood, a favorite hang out, or a Seattle icon – we want to know where you see good urban design.

What is the Seattle Design Festival?
The second annual Seattle Design Festival will bring speakers, tours, exhibits, outdoor installations, activities, films, and more to South Lake Union from September 20-23, 2012. With its theme of “Engage Your World,” the Festival invites the public to participate in a conversation about urban life that is both playful and serious.
The hub of the festival will be the “Design Block” on John Street near Denny and Westlake, where you’ll find cargo containers turned into pop-up shops and activity stations, simple materials into street furniture, and weather balloons into a “cloud” for projections. Mingle, browse, relax; enjoy food tastings, a beer garden, music, and more.
The “Design Block” is free and open to the public. Some events require tickets and reservations. Learn more at www.seattledesignfestival.org.
The Seattle Design Festival is a program of Design in Public, a multidisciplinary nonprofit organization that promotes the role of design in improving our community.
