DPD has launched a land-use study of Elliot Avenue W and 15th Avenue NW corridor from Ballard to Interbay. The purpose of the study is to develop a vision for the lands close to this heavily travelled, multi-functional route. The study will also include proposals for any required changes to the Comprehensive Plan or the Land Use Code to support the vision for this corridor. The study will:
-
Clarify the desired mix and balance of land uses.
-
Assess the potential for development that leverages and supports transit investments.
-
Identify opportunities for an improved public realm and placemaking.
DPD is forming working groups to advise staff about issues and opportunities along the corridor, and to provide feedback on draft recommendations. The Interbay working group will meet about once a month through spring 2013. A Ballard working group will begin in spring 2013. Other public outreach will include briefings for community organizations, interviews, focus groups and broader communities meetings.
