DPD is proposing to update development standards regarding the retention and planting of trees on private property during the development process. The updated standards will also implement a requirement to get a permit prior to removing specified trees on lots where no development is proposed. Public discussion of the updated proposal took place from July 14 through October 1, 2012. A summary of the comments are available on DPD’s website at www.seattle.gov/dpd/planning/trees under the “related documents” tab.
DPD is now reevaluating and revising the updated proposal based on the public comments. We expect to release a third draft proposal in early December 2012. DPD will accept comments on the third proposal through January, but we will not host any more public meetings prior to discussion at Council. The Mayor’s recommendations are expected to be submitted to City Council in February or March of 2013.
