To support increased permit volumes and reduce turnaround times for the review of permit applications, Mayor Durkan’s office coordinated with the City Budget Office to approve 13 additional positions for SDCI’s Land Use Division.
We will be bringing on 11 land use planners, 1 land use supervisor, and 1 permit specialist.
Our department has been experiencing record permit volumes over the last few years. These positions are being brought on to help reduce the backlog of zoning, addressing, and land use reviews, which have been contributing to delays in permit issuance.
The division is looking forward to hiring and training new staff right away so that they can hit the ground running and work to address these concerns. The internal job announcement was posted on May 28.
