The Street Use division of the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) have made the water service application process easier!
On December 2, 2019, SDOT is eliminating the requirement to get a street restoration (51M) permit before submitting the water service application to SPU. Instead, SPU will apply for the water service application (51J) and name the property owner or authorized agent as the Financially Responsible Party as agreed upon in SPU’s Water Service Application. The permanent restoration will be performed under SPU’s approved water service permit (51J).
As the permit owner, SPU will be responsible for the installation and temporary restoration while the property owner or authorized agent will be responsible for the permanent restoration and payment of the permit fees. This change streamlines the process and means less paperwork for everyone!
