New Tree Information Form and Training Now Available

Seattle Skyline

Our new Tree Information Form (TIF) is a tool that will standardize how applicants provide tree information in plan sets. This tool provides a clear table format that supports compliance with Seattle’s tree‑related requirements, including standards for neighborhood residential zones, Green Factor, street trees, environmentally critical areas, and shoreline regulations.

The tool is designed to:

  • help applicants understand what tree-related information is required in plan sets
  • ensure complete and accurate documentation of tree information
  • improve efficiency for SDCI reviewers when confirming compliance with code
  • reduce the number of correction cycles for plan set review
  • improve the speed and accuracy of tree‑tracking activities and data reporting

Beginning January 4, 2027, applicants for construction, grading, demolition, and phased permits will be required to use this tool when submitting permit applications, if tree-related standards apply. The TIF will be available for trial use beginning November 2, 2026.

You can find them on several of our webpages:

We are hosting two webinars introducing the TIF. The webinars will provide a brief demonstration on how the form works and time for questions.
