Important Additions to the 2009 Seattle Codes
The 2009 Seattle codes became mandatory for all permit applications submitted November 23, 2010 or later. The building, residential and mechanical codes are available from the DPD Public Resource Center on the 20th floor of Seattle Municipal Tower, 500 5th Avenue, or by calling (206) 684-8467.

2011 Seattle Electrical Code Update
DPD has created an internal staff committee to develop the 2011 Seattle Electrical Code. The 2011 Seattle Electrical Code will be a combination of the 2011 National Electrical Code and Seattle amendments. The committee is preparing a list of discussion items, code issues, and possible modifications to update the electrical code.

2009 Technical Codes Availability
The last day to submit permit applications using the 2006 Seattle Codes is November 22. This includes the Building, Residential, Mechanical, Fuel Gas and Existing Buildings codes, as well as the nonresidential portions of the Seattle Energy Code.
We expect the code books to be available in the near future.
2009 Codes Become Mandatory November 23
The last date on which DPD will accept applications using the 2006 codes will be November 22, 2010. Beginning on November 23, applications must comply with the 2009 Seattle building, residential, mechanical, fuel gas, and existing building codes.
2009 Seattle Energy Code Approved
The 2009 Seattle Energy Code has now been approved. City Council approved the 2009 Seattle Energy Code on October 18, 2010. The Mayor signed the legislation on October 22, 2010.
Pike/Pine Design Guidelines Legislation Passes
On Sept. 23, 2010, Mayor McGinn signed Ordinance 123392, approving and adopting revised Neighborhood Design Guidelines for the Pike/Pine Urban Center Village, and amending provisions in the Pike/Pine Conservation Overlay District to better maintain the character of the Pike/Pine neighborhood. This ordinance becomes effective on Oct. 23, 2010.
