Revisions to Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, including ADA Standards for Accessible Design, have been adopted by the federal government. Compliance with the 2010 Standards for Accessible Design will be mandatory on March 15, 2012.

Light Rail is Coming to Northgate…Public Input Needed
What will it take to create a vital community at the Northgate light-rail station? This question is one of many that representatives from the City of Seattle, King County, Sound Transit and other agencies would like to discuss with the public at an Open House for the Community Design Study for the Northgate Light Rail Station Area.
Roosevelt Rezone Recommendations
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is recommending a package of land use changes for the Roosevelt urban village, a dynamic neighborhood and future location of the Roosevelt light rail station. The proposal would change zoning within the Roosevelt residential urban village, establish a station area overlay district, and enact incentive zoning provisions for affordable workforce housing. The proposal supports the planned Sound Transit North Link light rail station that will be located in the heart of the Roosevelt neighborhood.
Plan Ahead for DPD Appointment Times (updated)
DPD has been working hard to add appointments, so lead times are reduced and appointments are more readily available. Staff are taking every effort to inform customers about intake appointment times and helpful permit tips, so applicants can plan and get their permit(s) as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Applicants Sought for the Seattle Design Commission
Mayor Mike McGinn is looking for a new Seattle Design Commission member to fill the At-Large position. The term will start as soon as possible and extend through February 2013, with the possibility of renewing for another two year term. The ten member commission includes architects, urban designers, environmental designers, urban planners, landscape architects, engineers, an artist, a member‐at‐large, and one member from Get Engaged, the YMCA Young Civic Leaders Program.
