Landslide season is upon us, so the City of Seattle is urging residents to take preventive measures to protect themselves and their property from possible landslides.
Seattle Center Arena Final Environmental Impact Statement Available
This morning, a public notice was issued regarding the availability of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (Final EIS) for the Seattle Center Arena (Key Arena) renovation project. This project was required to prepare a draft and final EIS to describe likely significant construction and operational environmental impacts and to identify potential measures to mitigate those impacts. The Final EIS includes updated traffic and transportation information, additional details on transportation mitigation, more information on construction-related impacts to Seattle Center tenants and neighbors, and potential mitigation. The Final EIS also updates potential mitigation measures for the identified impacts and includes responses to comments received on the Draft EIS.
Seattle Center Arena Draft Environmental Impact Statement Available
On April 23, notice was posted regarding the availability of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIS) for the renovation of KeyArena and the beginning of a 45-day comment period. This includes the required 30-day comment period plus a 15-day extension. The public notice also includes the date for the required public hearing to take formal comment on the Draft EIS.
Members Sought for Pending Central Area Design Review Board
Passionate about design or architecture? The Mayor is looking for qualified candidates to fill five potential openings on the City of Seattle’s Central Area Design Review Board. In anticipation of pending legislation proposing an eighth Design Review Board for the Central Area, we are accepting applications for new board members. Design review board members evaluate the design of new buildings based on citywide and neighborhood-specific design guidelines. The boards review large mixed-use developments, multifamily housing, and commercial projects. The volunteer positions will start on July 1, 2018, pending a vote by City Council on legislation to establish the new Design Review Board district. If legislation is revised or delayed, we will contact applicants regarding their application status or next steps.

Supporting Neighborhood Parking Options
The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) posted draft legislation to improve parking availability in neighborhoods by providing flexibility for building owners to make parking facilities with excess capacity available for public use. These policies will help more residents, consumers and visitors have better access to parking across the city.
City Proposes Updates to the Design Review Program
Our proposed amendments to the Land Use Code are intended to improve the overall function of the program to enhance the efficiency and predictability of the project review process and make the program more transparent and accessible to the community.
