SDCI is responsible for normal maintenance of the Land Use Code and related regulations. The State Department of Commerce recommends such maintenance as good government practice in furthering Growth Management Act implementation. We package a collection of amendments that are relatively small in scale, and have a limited scope of impact, into an “omnibus” bill.
Proposed Code Correction Amendments Are Now Available
On August 4, we released a staff draft of the 2016 omnibus legislation along with our environmental (SEPA) decision. The comment and appeal period runs until August 25. The legislation includes amendments to the Land Use Code (Title 23) and related land use regulations in Chapters 3.58, 22.202, and 25.11 to clarify and improve various regulations. Our proposed amendments generally include “clean-up” amendments that correct inadvertent clerical errors and incorrect cross-references, and clarifies existing code language.
Code Correction Amendments for Public Review
On January 12 we released a public review draft of proposed omnibus legislation and a Director’s Report to make corrections to the Seattle Municipal Code. We also completed an environment review of the proposed legislation per the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) on the same day. Our proposed amendments are called “omnibus” amendments because we package a collection of amendments that are small scale, with a limited scope of impact.
