On January 22, 2013 Seattle City Council unanimously adopted Council Bill 117585comprising the first comprehensive update of Seattle’s Shoreline Master Program (SMP) since 1987.

Signs: Proposed Land Use Code Amendments related to On-Premise Signs
The City Council is proposing to amend the Land Use and Building Codes to adopt standards for wall signs in commercial, industrial and downtown zones and to close a “loophole” in the City’s Sign Code by amending definitions of certain signs in the Land Use and Building Codes. The proposed legislation also increases the maximum penalties for violations of certain sign provisions in the Land Use and Building Codes.
