The rainy season is rapidly approaching, which means it’s time to think about whether you will be doing any grading between November 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. If your project includes Geotechnical Special Inspections AND if your project is in an environmentally critical area or involves a large quantity of earth-moving, you may need to apply for an extension.

DPD updated one Client Assistance Memo, “Renewal and Reestablishment Process for Construction and Land Use Permits.” Two Director’s Rules, “Implementing of Energy Performance Benchmarking” and “Implementation of the Fee Subtitle, Building Valuation Data,” are available for comment. Director’s Rule 18-2011, “General Duties And Responsibilities Of Geotechnical Engineers,” supersedes Director’s Rule 33-2006.

DR 18-2011, General Duties And Responsibilities Of Geotechnical Engineers, will supersede Director’s Rule 33-2006. The purpose of this rule is to define the department’s requirements for geotechnical engineers who are hired by permit applicants to analyze surface and subsurface conditions on a site.
