SDCI Extends Closure of Customer Service Areas to June 30

SDCI would like to thank our customers for their continued flexibility and patience as we find new ways of providing service while reducing the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus.

On June 17, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan extended her Executive Order on the City of Seattle’s facility closures until June 30. This Executive Order follows King County’s application to be in Phase Two of the Governor’s Safe Start Washington plan. Phase Two allows some businesses and activities to resume under strict public health guidance, but continues to ban almost all gatherings and makes clear that residents and businesses should follow public health measures like social distancing, face coverings, and good hygiene.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, most City offices, including SDCI’s, are closed to in-person services. However, SDCI is still processing, reviewing, and issuing permits. Almost all permits can be applied for online through our Seattle Services Portal. We are also providing coaching and answering questions electronically.

On May 4, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan extended her Executive Order on the City of Seattle’s policies on facility closures and permit suspensions until May 31, to be consistent with Governor Inslee’s May 1 announcement extending the statewide ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order until at least May 31, 2020.

Reminder: Get Ready for a New Permit System

SDCI will launch new permitting software in early 2018. All permitting, licensing, inspections, and complaints functions will be available in the new system. Our new system will affect applicants, interested members of the public, city employees who interacts with our system, and anybody who uses SDCI data. We have several articles in our Help Center that will help you navigate the new system to apply for permits, schedule inspections, search for information, and more.
