Our proposed 2021 Stormwater Code and Manual update is scheduled to be effective in July 2021. Our new rules will replace the current Stormwater code and Directors’ Rules, which are administered jointly by SDCI and Seattle Public Utilities (SPU). For more information, visit our Updating Stormwater Regulations web page. There are two public review periods and three public meetings coming up between now and mid-2021.
Environmental Critical Areas Open House Wrap Up
On Wednesday, February 25, DPD hosted an open house at City Hall for the 2015 update to our environmentally critical areas (ECAs) regulations. We presented an overview of what ECAs are, how we regulate them, and what changes we are considering in this update. We also had large maps of each ECA type on display.
Cross-Laminated Timber
In April 2012, the City Council Planning Land Use and Sustainability Committee was briefed on a novel proposal for use of a new wood product in building construction. DPD is reviewing this proposal that would allow buildings using this wood product to be several stories taller than is allowed by the current (and past) building code.
