May 3: Planning Seattle’s Future
Seattle will add more than 100,000 residents by 2035, along with thousands of new jobs. The City’s Comprehensive Plan is a blueprint for how and where we handle all that growth. We want your ideas on how we can best guide smart and sustainable growth for future generations.
Seattle Community Budget Conference this Sunday, January 29
Members of the public are invited to help Seattle City government kick off its two-year budget process. The Mayor, Director of the City Budget Office, City Councilmembers, and representatives of more than 20 City departments are beginning a dialogue with the public about Seattle’s revenue and spending priorities. Mayor Mike McGinn, City Councilmember and Budget Chair Tim Burgess, and City Budget Director Beth Goldberg will speak, and more than 20 agencies will discuss their budgets at booths and in presentation groups.
Are YOU Prepared for Landslides? City Offers FREE Landslide Awareness Meeting
Did you know that most landslides occur between the months of December and March? And that 86 percent of landslides are caused to some extent by human activity? Landslide season is upon us and although the Seattle rainfall is currently below the landslide threshold, the City of Seattle is urging residents to take preventive measures to protect themselves and their property from possible landslides.

Did you know there were nearly 100 reported landslides in Seattle last year? This was a tremendous increase from past years and landslide experts say the wet weather conditions played a large factor.

520 Bridge Replacement Project Public Meeting

Northgate Station Area Urban Design Study Survey
DPD held an initial public meeting for this study on July 26, and gathered feedback on priorities for future growth and preferred types of improvements near the Northgate Transit Center. The study is exploring how the public environment (streets, sidewalks, parks, bus transfer points) may be arranged in the district near the Transit Center, as well as building forms, preferred mixes of uses, and ways to achieve a truly livable, healthy and attractive place.
Planning the Future of West Seattle Triangle
The public is encouraged to attend an open house on the future of the West Seattle Triangle planning area. Neighborhood stakeholders and planners from the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) have developed draft recommendations to guide how the West Seattle Triangle may evolve in the coming decades. At the open house the public will have an opportunity to view and comment on the draft recommendations, which include a concept for streets and proposed Land Use Code amendments. Comments also may be directed to susan.mclain@seattle.gov.
