New interim Floodplain Development Regulations and floodplain maps will take effect on August 23, 2020. The City of Seattle is required by FEMA to update our floodplain maps based on their new maps dated August 19, 2020. As part of this update, Seattle is also required to update SMC 25.06, which is Seattle’s Floodplain Development Regulations. These interim regulations will be effective for approximately six months while SDCI works on permanent regulations.
New Tree Rules for Single-Family Zones
On April 19, new rules went into effect for tree planting and protection requirements in single-family zones. The recently passed Mandatory Housing Affordability Ordinance 125791 made several important changes to tree protection requirements in the Seattle Municipal Code (SMC) 25.11, Tree Protection, and SMC 23.44, Single Family Zone.
Public Hearing about the 2016 Stormwater Code Update
City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the 2016 Stormwater Code Update for August 11, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Seattle City Hall Council Chambers. The draft documents of the 2016 Stormwater Code and other project applicability code changes are available for your review on our website.
Three Stormwater Code and Manual Update Meetings this Month
We invite you to attend the special Stormwater Code informational meeting for the Seattle Public Utilities and Neighborhoods (SPUN) Committee. It is on Friday, April 3, at 9:30 a.m. in the City Hall’s Council Chambers, 600 4th Avenue. Essentially we are presenting “Stormwater Code 101” to the SPUN Committee.
