City Hall Open House
Join us at our open house to meet your elected officials and tour city hall offices. You’ll be able to meet Mayor Mike McGinn, the City Council, and City Attorney Pete Holmes.
What’s Changing on DPD’s Website?
We have almost finished a redesign of our website, www.seattle.gov/dpd. We will be releasing the new site in a couple of months. We think you’ll find our simpler design, with “plain language” content, easier to use and understand. Our site has a new focus on making things easier for the first-time user, but we’ve also made sure our frequent users have easy access to their favorite information and tools with our “Dig Deeper” sections.

Revised Effective Date for 2012 Codes
DPD is revising the schedule for adoption of the 2012 editions of the Seattle building, residential, existing building, mechanical, fuel gas, energy, and plumbing codes. We are going to specify that the codes will become mandatory no earlier than October 13, 2013.
Conference: Designing a Family-Friendly Downtown
DPD and the Seattle Planning Commission are co-presenting this one-day conference with the Seattle branch of the American Institute of Architects and the Downtown Seattle Association.
Pioneer Square Economic Development Report
Mayor McGinn visited Pioneer Square on March 18 for an annual economic development update. In recognition of the degree to which Pioneer Square was impacted by the economic recession, the City and the neighborhood collaborated in the development of an economic revitalization action plan “Pioneer Square 2015- A Strategy for Seattle’s First Neighborhood” that was completed in June of 2010. Mayor McGinn and Alliance for Pioneer Square executive director Leslie Smith have presented annual progress reports to the neighborhood each year since.
Meeting on 23rd Avenue Action Plan
Things are happening. The beating hearts of the Central Area along 23rd Avenue—at Union, Cherry and Jackson—are where people gather, shop, work, go to school, worship and live … and they are changing. This great neighborhood is full of history, character, shops, organizations, schools and most importantly a community of people from a diversity of backgrounds. It is time to come together to identify key priorities for these three community cores—to honor its history and shape its future.
CORRECTION TO MEETING DATE: Ballard to Interbay Land Use Corridor Study Community Meeting
Should there be more housing, offices or retail in Interbay? Can existing businesses thrive as Interbay grows and changes? Over the past six months DPD and the Interbay Working Group have been thinking about and discussing Interbay’s future. DPD will present preliminary recommendations and options at a Community Meeting on April 29.
