Join Us at the Seattle Home Fairs

Home Fair Announcement
– Bringing free resources to the community

Once again, the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections (SDCI) will be hosting our popular Seattle Home Fairs in January and February. These free events will be jam-packed with useful information about rental housing rules, our permitting and inspection process, emergency preparedness, and much more. We’ll have breakout sessions on landslide prevention, accessory dwelling units (ADU), and earthquake retrofits. With something for everyone, you won’t want to miss these events!

Our North Seattle Home Fair will take place at the Meadowbrook Community Center on Saturday, January 25 from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. Our South Seattle Home Fair will be at the Filipino Community Center on Saturday, February 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Parking is limited, so you might want to consider taking public transportation.

Start 2020 off right by getting a jump-start on your home improvement project. Whether you’re a homeowner, landlord, renter, or potential homeowner, one of the Home Fairs will have something for you. Ask us about our permitting process, inspections, and code requirements. Do you rent, or are you a landlord? Learn more about rental housing rules.

This year, we’ll be joined by several other departments and organizations so that you can maximize your visit. RainWise will help you find out if you are eligible for a rebate for installing a rain garden or cistern on your property. Visit the Seattle Hubs table to learn how the Emergency Communications Hubs function, where they’re located, and how to be prepared and communicate during an emergency. The Seattle Office for Civil Rights will be available to educate renters and buyers about their right to be free from discrimination and to provide technical assistance to owners and landlords about how to comply with fair housing laws. With these organizations in attendance along with several others, we’re sure to have answers for all your questions.
