Building Safety Month LogoThe Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections and the City of Seattle are proud to participate in the International Code Council’s annual Building Safety Month campaign this May. This event, created by the International Code Council, has a goal and purpose to showcase the work and mission of the codes, officials who administer them, and the positive effects the codes can have on the community. This is the 40th year of Building Safety Month. On May 14, Governor Inslee issued a Building Safety Month Proclamation. There are weekly themes throughout May to educate the public on these important issues:

    Topics will include protecting our waterways, Rainwise, and side sewers.
  • May 20, 1:00 p.m.
    Jess Harris
    Topics will include green building permitting, priority reviews, and code incentives.
  • May 27, 11:00 a.m.
    Andy Lunde
    Topics will include available classes to learn the codes and the SDCI reviewer’s role versus the designer’s role.
