SDCI is enthused to announce the release of its new Shaping Seattle: Property & Building Complaints map. This new map displays active complaints and violations and the actions taken by SDCI’s Code Compliance Division to help bring properties into compliance with community standards. This map will make it easier for the public to find complaints and track when the City determines a violation is present around their neighborhood. SDCI optimized the map to work best on mobile devices so you can quickly find complaint and violation information about properties you see when walking in your community.

We address several types of complaints including housing standards, lands use violations, construction without permits, shoreline, tree cutting, and tenant issues like deposit return and unlawful evictions. Complaints and violations have a detail page that outline compliance tools used by our inspectors. Simply click on the dot to get additional information, including:

  • Photo of the violation (if available)
  • Complaint descriptions (as submitted to us)
  • Complaint and violation status
  • Inspection status
  • See when warnings, notice of violations, and citations are issued
  • Hearing Examiner outcomes
  • Links to related records and documents

This new Shaping Seattle: Property & Building Complaints map is a much-anticipated addition to the existing Shaping Seattle map that includes Property & Building Activity. This expansion of Shaping Seattle gives users the ability to follow the Code Compliance enforcement process from complaint through compliance across the city.
