King County Plumbing and Gas Program Collaboration to Create Example Design Plans

gold faucetsOver the past five and a half years Public Health – Seattle & King County Plumbing and Gas Program has collaborated with multiple plumbing industry organizations to create design guidance and a plan review process. The Plumbing and Gas Program is continuing this collaboration with the plumbing industry. The American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Seattle Chapter Board of Directors has taken an unprecedented approach to create and produce example design plans to be housed on the Plumbing & Gas Piping homepage.

These example plans will define what components are needed in a plumbing system design that are code compliant and will mirror existing design guidance that is currently on the Plumbing and Gas Piping homepage under Plan Review Information – “Schedule A”. Example plans will include the following systems: medical gas, natural gas, drain waste-n-vent, water supply, rainwater, greywater, etc.

Example plans will inform those who design plumbing and gas systems to have their plans seamlessly be processed through the plan review portal and minimize correction action items. As a result, there will be a quicker plan review to permit process.

A future collaboration between Public Heath – Seattle King County and SDCI will focus on heat pump water heater systems design and inspection process. Stay tuned for that announcement!
