Tips
New
- Tip 42, Envelope Component Performance Compliance. This Tip provides guidance on use of the component performance method, sometimes referred to as “Target UA” or “UA tradeoff,” in Section C402.1.5. This method allows some building envelope components to have higher U-factors (more heat loss) than allowed by code, in exchange for other components that have lower U-factors (less heat loss) than are allowed.
- Tip 429, Energy Code for Multifamily Buildings. This Tip provides information about energy code requirements that specifically apply to multifamily buildings. In general, multifamily buildings must comply with the entire commercial Energy Code, but there are some differences.
Updated
- Tip 414, STFI Mechanical Permits for Commercial & Multifamily Residential. Updated to let customers know that now they can permit ERV/HRVs under a STFI mechanical permit.
- Tip 420, Solar Energy Systems has been updated to the 2021 Energy Code.
Pulled from Circulation
- We have pulled Tip 232, How to Appeal the Granting, Conditioning or Denial of Shoreline Permits, from our website. This Tip is no longer needed because the process is managed by Washington state. We have updated the How to Appeal a Decision webpage with the current process information. Please remove any copies of this Tip from your desktop or other file location.
