SDCI’s 2025 Accomplishments

We’ve made meaningful progress this year to support housing, improve services, and strengthen our permitting and regulatory systems. We advanced affordable housing initiatives, supported office‑to‑residential conversions, expanded shelter capacity, and continued to invest in future development through Mandatory Housing Affordability funding.

We also improved our core services. The City Council approved new Sound Transit legislation that will streamline permit review timelines, strengthen public engagement, and reduce the risk of delays —helping accelerate light rail construction across Seattle.

Customer service remains a top priority. Staff assisted nearly 49,000 online customers with a 94% satisfaction rate, completed more than 172,000 inspections, and supported small businesses by reducing permit timelines and lowering regulatory barriers.

We’ve released our 2025 Annual Report to highlight the real‑world impact of this work. The report showcases the outcomes of our policy, service, and regulatory efforts, and reflects our commitment to delivering efficient, equitable services for Seattle.
