Join Us at Seattle PARK(ing) Day This Friday!
Join us for one last Seattle summer celebration in Pioneer Square as we turn Occidental Park, Nord Alley and parking spots on Main Street into a summer lawn party! There will be live music, art, bicycle polo, a photo booth, BBQ, bocce ball, transportation tarot reading, lawn bowling and Adirondack chairs where you can lounge and read books from our pop-up library.
PARK(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. It promotes creativity, civic engagement, critical thinking, generosity, play, and unscripted social interactions.
This event is brought to you by a partnership between the Alliance for Pioneer Square, City of Seattle, International Sustainability Institute, Feet First, Bicycle Alliance of Washington, Back Alley Bike Repair, and the Alley Network Project.
Capitol Hill Light Rail Station Area Update
Eleven months ago, the Urban Design Framework for the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station Sites was finalized. The Framework articulated the community’s vision for the redevelopment of the station sites, offering development guidance and design guidance to the future developers of the station sites.

Green Code Provisions Open House
The City of Seattle and regional partners are identifying long-term green priorities and developing new code to address climate change.The public can comment on the draft code language at the Green Code Provisions Open House. Updated Tree Regulations Proposal and Public Open House
The Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has released a revised proposal to update regulations governing trees on private property, which is now available at www.seattle.gov/dpd/planning/trees. The intent of this update is to better implement the goals of the Urban Forest Management Plan by improving existing tree regulations and adding a number of new measures that would expand or improve development standards to better mitigate the impacts of development.

Artist Sought For Seattle Design Commission
SEATTLE — Mayor Mike McGinn is looking for an artist to serve on the Seattle Design Commission.
The artist would provide advice, as a member of the commission, on plans for new public projects such as fire stations, parks, and streetscapes, and on major projects that affect the whole city, such as the waterfront and light rail stations. The artist would also serve as the Design Commission’s liaison on the Public Art Advisory Committee
Seattle Japan Relief Coalition Community Event on March 11, 2012
SeattleJapanRelief.org and the Consulate General of Japan in Seattle will hold a special community event on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Seattle Center. The event, held on the one-year anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake will focus on three themes: remembrance, preparedness and rebuilding.
Yesler Terrace Recommendations Released
The Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD) has proposed draft legislation related to the redevelopment of Yesler Terrace. The proposal includes a rezone, documents regulating environmental mitigation, changes to the street system, and funding agreements between the City and Seattle Housing Authority (SHA). The proposal builds from Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan and SHA’s redevelopment plan, and includes requirements for affordable housing, parks, community gardens, and street improvements.
