Today, the Seattle Department of Planning and Development (DPD) released a Draft City of Seattle Comprehensive Plan. Entitled Seattle 2035, the Draft Plan is now available for public comment. This important milestone brings the City one step closer to completing an updated Comprehensive Plan – our roadmap for Seattle’s next 20 years.
Seattle 2035: Draft Plan Coming In July
Last week we wrapped up the Seattle 2035 Draft Comprehensive Plan Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) comment period. During the comment period, we heard from thousands of Seattleites who weighed in and provided their thoughts and ideas for how Seattle should grow over the next 20 years. On July 8, DPD will release the Draft Seattle Comprehensive Plan for public review and comment.
Putting Design Review on the Map
In July we will unveil a new online map that provides locations and detailed information of active Seattle Design Review projects. Our Shaping Seattle: Buildings map gives users the ability to click on a project to: view design specifics; find the building status, comment on the project, find related Design Review meetings.
Public Hearing about the 2016 Stormwater Code Update
City Council has scheduled a public hearing on the 2016 Stormwater Code Update for August 11, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. in Seattle City Hall Council Chambers. The draft documents of the 2016 Stormwater Code and other project applicability code changes are available for your review on our website.
Electrical Plan Review Now Accepts Electronic Plan Submissions
DPD is now accepting electronic plans for electrical plan review through the DPD Project Portal. Through the portal you can submit plans, pay fees, review correction notices, and find the status of you project.
Five Plans Sets Required for MUPs
Beginning August 1, 2015, DPD will require 5 sets of plans for paper submittals of Master Use permits. This will help facilitate multiple reviews of the proposal, such as environmental, City Light, ordinance, and drainage reviews.

Making a Vibrant 35th Avenue
On Wednesday, June 24, DPD hosted a community open house to discuss potential zoning changes to the neighborhood business districts along 35th Ave NE (at 65th, 75th, 85th, and 95th Streets). More than 100 people attended the open house to provide their input.
