Employees from SDCI and Seattle IT attended the Accela annual conference, Accelarate, September 23 – 27 in Washington D.C. The City of Seattle was honored at the recognition luncheon with an Accelarate Trendsetter Award for “Connecting in Purpose – Permitting System Integration” for the Seattle Services Portal (on the Accela platform). The annual conference and Trendsetter Awards are opportunities for agencies in the US to connect and learn from each other to move governments forward to improve services to the public. The award recognizes government agencies as well as individuals who embrace technology and digital modernization to deliver reliable services to their communities.
Jon Siu, PE, SE Wins National Award
Jon Siu, SDCI’s Principal Engineer/Building Official, has been named as the recipient of the 2016 International Code Council’s (ICC) Bobby J. Fowler Award. The award is one of seven handed out at the ICC Annual Business Meeting.

Governor’s Award Given to Neighborhood Planning
City of Seattle has won a Judges Merit Award for its innovative civic engagement efforts for Neighborhood Planning Updates and Status Check. Gov. Chris Gregoire announced the winners of her 2010 Smart Communities Awards for creating livable communities in Washington State.

Seattle Design Commission Recognizes Public Projects
Mayor Greg Nickels will join the Seattle Design Commission and project teams Thursday evening, December 3rd, to recognize five recent public projects that exhibit superior design. The projects include a public park, a master plan, infrastructure improvements, and a new zoo exhibit. The Seattle Design Commission reviews public projects and projects with public funds, providing design guidance in support of development that fosters interaction with the public and enhances Seattle’s neighborhoods.
