Electrical Code Update
SDCI is updating the Seattle Electrical Code to reflect the changes to the 2017 National Electrical Code. If you are interested in submitting input to amend the Seattle Electrical Code, please send your submission to seattleelectricalcode2017@seattle.gov. We will accept public input through March 31, 2017.
New Drainage Document Rules
Effective February 1, SDCI can no longer send legal documents associated with the approval of your Drainage and Wastewater Control (DWC) plan or the issuance of a side sewer permit to King County for recording. All legal documents to be recorded at King County will now be reviewed and approved as part of the drainage and side sewer plan review associated with a building or site work permit. The applicant will record these documents before SDCI approves the drainage and side sewer plans.

New Deposit and Move-in Fee Limits and Payment Plans
The City of Seattle has made important changes to the City’s Rental Agreement Regulation Ordinance. Future rental agreements in the City of Seattle must follow these requirements: Security Deposit, Pet Deposit, and Move-in Fee Limits; Payment Plans Required; and Security Deposit Returns.
Reminder: Fall Protection Safety Measures are Required on All Construction Sites
Fall protection is a job site safety requirement nationally and in the State of Washington. Job sites are required to meet safety requirements and our inspectors are responsible to abide by requirements for basic Fall Protection. If a Seattle inspector is at a site where an unsafe condition is present, they will not enter the unsafe area, which could result in failure of your inspection.
