City to Partner with Community on Future of Delridge
The City of Seattle is beginning a collaboration to produce a shared vision and action plan to continue improving the health and equity of the Delridge community.
Delridge is a unique area of West Seattle and home to a rich heritage, diverse communities and organizations. Over the years, the people of Delridge have worked with the City to create neighborhood assets such as Youngstown Cultural Arts Center, Longfellow Creek Legacy Trail, Cottage Grove Park and affordable housing options. These and many other additions to the neighborhood are the result of community activism and the neighborhood plan completed in 1999.
Youth Service Center Amendments
DPD is proposing amendments to the Land Use Code to define a new land use for Youth Service Centers (YSC) and allow the use in Neighborhood Commercial 3 (NC3) and Lowrise (LR3) zones in existing public facilities operated by King County. The amendments would also authorize the DPD Director to waive or modify standards for structure setbacks and maximum width limits for YSCs in LR3 zones. The City Council will hold a public hearing to take comments on the proposal on Friday, September 5th at 2:00 p.m.
New Interactive Map for Neighborhood Data
DPD has added a new Neighborhoods page to the Population & Demographics web site. The new page includes census data, land use zoning and permitting information, and employment data by neighborhood.
Reminder: Draft Stormwater Regulations Ready for Public Review
The Department of Ecology is requiring Seattle to update our current codes with additional stormwater control regulations as a condition of our NPDES permit. Our regulations must be equivalent to Ecology’s NPDES 2012 Stormwater Manual. To meet these requirements, we are revising our existing Stormwater Code (SMC 22.800-22.808) and the associated Directors’ Rules. These new rules will replace our current Stormwater Code and Directors’ Rules that are administered jointly by DPD and Seattle Public Utilities.
