Revised SEPA Checklist
Washington Department of Ecology (DOE) has updated the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) rules. The new rules took effect on May 10. DOE has updated the SEPA Environmental Checklist and made some changes to SEPA exemptions.
Public Resource Center to Process Some Corrections and Permits
In order to better serve our customers, the Public Resource Center (PRC) will process corrections and permit issuance for land use projects. This change takes effect on July 1, 2014.
Seattle Electrical Code Update
We are conducting final reviews of the draft 2014 Seattle Electrical Code. We still do not know the actual effective date of the new electrical code. Our draft ordinance will undergo several more department reviews, and a Council vote before we will know the effective date. We hope to have a draft of the ordinance available online before the end of July.

Seattle 2035 Key Directions Recap
Seattle 2035’s Key Directions event attracted over 200 people to the Seattle Center last Tuesday evening. The purpose of the event was to help DPD define the important “key directions” for the update to the Comprehensive Plan. The crowd travelled a circuit of stations to learn more and to weigh in on a range of topics, including housing, economic development, environment, land use, and transportation.
Upcoming Design Review Board Opening
Seattle’s Design Review Program is seeking a new volunteer board member to join the Southwest Design Review Board in the Development Representative position in August 2014. Applications are available on the Design Review website and due by July 18. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about our built environment and civic engagement.
Building Plans for Design Review Projects
Starting August 1, when you submit your building permit plans for design review you must also include color elevations and color landscape plans.
June Publication Updates
DPD pulled two Tips related to interim parking lots and updated a Tip on backyard cottages and one on weed and vegetation. We released a draft Director’s Rule with edits to the RRIO checklist.
