2009 Seattle Energy Code Update
Several items have been posted on the Seattle Energy Code website within the last month. These can all be accessed from the right hand navigation tab on the Seattle Energy Code homepage.
Shoreline Master Program Update
DPD continues to receive public comments on the Shoreline Master Program (SMP) draft regulations that were released on February 9, 2011. The deadline for comments on the proposed regulations has been extended to May 31, 2011. Seattle residents, business owners, and community groups are encouraged to review the draft regulations and provide input.
EcoBuilding Guild Hosts Green Building Tours April 16 and 17
The EcoBuilding Green Tours represent an incredible opportunity to educate the public about the many ways to improve the relationship between our communities and our built environment. The tours, occurring in the south sound and Seattle, celebrate the leadership and ingenuity of our local green builders, suppliers, and do-it-yourselfers. Learn how local builders are making green an affordable solution for everyone.
New Director’s Rules for Multifamily Code Update
Three draft rules are available that would interpret a height measurement technique, landscaping provisions (green factor) and frequent transit service (used in calculating parking requirements in certain areas). These rules are anticipated to be effective at the same time, April 19, 2011, as related legislation that was recently adopted by the City Council: the Lowrise multifamily code update and clarified in clean-up legislation. New Enhancements to Permit & Complaint Status Tool
As a way of providing better customer service through our online applications, DPD has made new enhancements to the Permit & Complaint Status tool. Some of the changes include:
South Lake Union Draft EIS Public Hearing
The South Lake Union Height and Density Alternatives Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is now available on DPD’s website. The formal publication date for this document was Thursday, Feb. 24, which marked the beginning of a 45-day comment period that closes on April 11.
Two Meetings for Neighborhood Plan Updates in March
We are updating the neighborhood plans in Rainier Beach and in Broadview/BitterLake/Haller Lake! It’s time to take a fresh look at those neighborhood plans. In the late 1990s, people worked together to create these plans, which are the communities’ plans to guide growth and change. Things have changed since 1999 when the plans were developed.
