Minor amendments to the Building, Residential, Energy, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, and Plumbing Code codes took effect on November 23, 2014. The amendments adopted recent Washington State Code amendments, corrected errors, and addressed coordination among the 2012 Seattle codes.

Seattle 2035’s New Schedule Gives More Time to Plan Our Future
Our Seattle 2035 project schedule is changing. The new schedule gives us more time to work with you to develop a new Comprehensive Plan for Seattle. However, we’ll need to make some changes this year to keep our current plan compliant with the State’s Growth Management Act. Over the next two years, Council will take two actions to update the Comprehensive Plan.
23rd Ave Action Plan (Union-Cherry-Jackson) Moving Forward
Thanks to those who came to, and supported, the Central Area Block Party held on Sept 27, 2014. It was a huge step for moving the 23rd Ave Action Plan (Union-Cherry-Jackson) forward! About 1,000-1,500 participants from the Central Area and other areas came together to enjoy amazing music, performances, local food and restaurants, and arts. They also came to meet their neighbors, ACT members, and local organizations, and to learn about, and provide feedback on, the plan recommendations.

Housing Affordability and Livablity Agenda Community Open House
Mayor Murray and members of City Council have launched work on a new Housing Affordability and Livability Agenda. The Mayor and Council have called together leaders in our community to help develop a bold agenda for increasing the affordability and availability of housing in our city. The agenda will chart a course for the next 10 years to ensure the development and preservation of a diversity of housing for people across the income spectrum. The Housing Affordability & Livability Advisory Committee will review every piece of the housing puzzle, including innovative ideas to pilot new types of housing, accessory dwelling unit regulations, new efforts to preserve existing affordable housing, opportunities to stretch our valuable Housing Levy dollars, and more.

Georgetown Community Meeting Summary (November 5, 2014)
On November 5, 2014, DPD held a Georgetown community meeting. At least 64 people from the Georgetown neighborhood joined 16 City staff.
