Mayor Mike McGinn is looking for qualified candidates to fill nine upcoming openings on the city of Seattle’s Design Review Board. The volunteer positions will be available April 4, 2013 when retiring board members’ terms expire.

Storm Drain Insert Reminder
With onset of the rainy season, DPD is reminding builders working in Seattle to inspect and maintain any temporary storm drain inserts they have installed as part of construction projects. The inserts, also known as storm drain socks, are used on many construction projects to catch sediment not captured upstream by other construction-related erosion control devices.
Shoreline Master Program Public Hearing
The City Council’s Planning, Land Use and Sustainability Committee has scheduled a public hearing for the Shoreline Master Program(SMP). The public hearing will be Monday October 15, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall at 600 Fourth Avenue.
Landslide Awareness Meetings Oct. 27 and Nov. 10
If you live on a steep slope or landslide-prone area, the City of Seattle encourages you to come out to one of two free landslide awareness meetings.
You will have the opportunity to consult with public and private landslide experts and learn how to protect yourself from landslides by using simple preventive measures.

Reminder: Time to Apply for Grading Season Extension
The rainy season is rapidly approaching, which means it’s time to think about whether you will be doing any grading between November 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013. If Geotechnical Special Inspections were assigned for your project and if your project is in an environmentally critical area or involves a large quantity of earth-moving, check the Geotechnical Special Inspection assignment letter sent to you shortly after permit issuance.
