Members sought for Seattle’s Design Review Boards

Passionate about design or architecture? Mayor Bruce Harrell is looking for qualified candidates to fill 26 upcoming openings on the City of Seattle’s Design Review Boards. Board members evaluate the design of new buildings based on citywide and neighborhood-specific design guidelines. The boards review large mixed-use developments, multifamily housing, and commercial projects. The volunteer positions will start on April 4, 2024. Ideal candidates are professionals in the design and development fields who have proven skills and established careers. We also are seeking community and business leaders interested in civic engagement and helping to shape new development in their neighborhoods. The City of Seattle encourages applicants from all backgrounds and those with diverse life experiences.

Mayor Bruce A Harrell is recruiting an Architect to join the Seattle Design Commission. The two-year term will start in March 2024. We are looking for a Licensed Architect who is interested in helping to elevate the design of City capital projects (parks, community centers, fire stations, etc.) that will have a long-term effect, and which can produce environmental outcomes that benefit the public.

Reminder: New Professional Engineer Sought to Join the Seattle Design Commission

Mayor Bruce Harrell is recruiting to fill a vacancy on the Seattle Design Commission for a licensed Professional Engineer. The two-year term for this position will start following Council confirmation, estimated to occur by May 2022. Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. The 10‐member commission is comprised of architects, artists, urban designers, urban planners, landscape architects, civil engineers, a member‐at‐large, and one member from Get Engaged, the YMCA Young Civic Leaders Program.

Seattle Urban Forestry Commission, Position 8

The Mayor’s Office is looking for a representative of either the development community, including developers, builders, architects, or realtors, with experience in projects developed under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), or a representative from a non-city utility to fill Position # 8 (Development community or Utility Representative) of the Urban Forestry Commission (UFC). The term starts upon appointment and extends through March 31, 2022.
