Lake City’s Community Conversation
On the evening of April 29, more than 100 members of the Lake City community gathered at the community center to learn about numerous projects underway, enjoy delicious food, and see a preview of the Celebrate Africa! event that will take place on Saturday, June 9.
DPD staff answered questions about the draft Lake City Urban Design Framework (UDF). The UDF was developed over the past year and a half with guidance from an advisory group of Lake City residents and business owners. It provides a vision for the future of Lake City and the North District.
2014 Design Commission Annual Report Available
In 2014, the Design Commission reviewed a total of 40 projects, plans, and permits valued at $7.6 billion. The Commission continued to review the Waterfront Seattle capital projects, hosted the 2014 Design Excellence Awards, and guided the design of two key elements of the SR 520 project.

Rental Housing Inspections Begin in Seattle This Spring
A selection of rental housing properties will receive safety inspections starting this month. These inspections are taking place under the Rental Registration and Inspection Ordinance (RRIO), which was established by the Seattle City Council to help ensure that rental housing properties in Seattle are safe and meet basic housing requirements and safety standards.

City Sends Parking Recommendations to City Council
DPD and the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has sent a report to City Council containing preliminary staff recommendations to address residential parking issues related to new development. Last year, the Mayor and City Council directed DPD and SDOT to work together in preparing the recommendations for Council consideration this spring.
Roosevelt Design Guidelines for Public Review
The Roosevelt Neighborhood Association in partnership with DPD has drafted new design guidelines to guide the character of development near the future Roosevelt Light Rail Station. The new design guidelines are available for review along with a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) analysis. Comments are due to DPD by April 27.
