Plan Ahead for DPD Appointment Times
Due to the revenue shortfalls and reduction in staff resources, DPD’s intake appointment scheduling lead times have grown beyond its target goals.
DPD is working hard to add appointments, so lead times are reduced and appointments are more readily available. Staff are taking every effort to inform customers about intake appointment times and helpful permit tips, so applicants can plan and get their permit(s) as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Council Passes South Downtown Legislation
On April 25, 2011, the Seattle City Council unanimously voted to approve a bill to increase density in South Downtown neighborhoods through amendments to Seattle’s Land Use Code. The bill also includes provisions addressing historic preservation, new open spaces, building form, street designs, and small businesses.
Design Guidelines SEPA Decision Published
DPD is concluding its work to update the design guidelines that serve as the primary resource for the Design Review Program. The final draft of the Seattle Design Guidelines includes several revisions from the first draft published in March of 2010, reflecting public comment and internal City review. Upon adoption by City Council, the Seattle Design Guidelines will replace the original document entitled Design Review: Guidelines for Multifamily and Commercial Buildings.
Capitol Hill Light Rail Station Properties
Over the past several years, Capitol Hill community members have worked with Sound Transit and the City of Seattle to develop a vision for the Sound Transit-owned properties in the immediate vicinity of the future light rail station on Capitol Hill. That vision will be expressed in an Urban Design Framework.
Planning Commission Launches Seattle Transit Communities Online!
The Seattle Planning Commission launched the online version of Seattle Transit Communities – Integrating Neighborhoods with Transit. The online report allows easy navigation of all report content as well as other features found only in the online version including an interactive Flash movie, a funding and implementation toolkit, a navigable map of 41 Seattle transit communities, and more!
