Finding Your Business Occupancy

King County has received permission from the Washington State Secretary of Health to move into Phase 2 of the Governor’s Safe Start plan, which would allow some businesses and activities to increase operations while limiting the number of people in the space, referred to as the “occupancy” in the reopening plan. The technical term is “occupant load.” See the approved Phase 2 plan here and the Governor’s reopening guidance here.

SDCI Extends Closure of Customer Service Areas to June 30

SDCI would like to thank our customers for their continued flexibility and patience as we find new ways of providing service while reducing the risk of spreading the COVID-19 virus. On June 17, Mayor Jenny A. Durkan extended her Executive Order on the City of Seattle’s facility closures until June 30. This Executive Order follows King County’s application to be in Phase Two of the Governor’s Safe Start Washington plan. Phase Two allows some businesses and activities to resume under strict public health guidance, but continues to ban almost all gatherings and makes clear that residents and businesses should follow public health measures like social distancing, face coverings, and good hygiene.

What’s Happening With the Stormwater Code Update?

The draft documents of the 2021 Stormwater Code and Manual, supporting documentation, and other related project code changes are available for your review on the project documents page. The official public review period for these documents was April 1 – May 16, 2020, but we are still interested in your comments. Visit the get involved page to find the template and instructions for submitting your feedback. We will hold another official comment period in the Fall/Winter of 2020.

Seattle’s COVID-19 Recovery Tenant Protection Bills

The City of Seattle has several COVID-19 recovery tenant protection bills that cover non-payment of rent, mandatory payment plans, and fair chance housing.

Governor Inslee Extends Eviction Moratorium

The governor announced by proclamation on June 2, he was extending the eviction moratorium until August 1. Rent increases and late fees remain prohibited under the moratorium.
